A few weeks ago I was looking around on ebay and came across an engine for a 3400 Equinox which sparked a little interest. Every picture that I saw showed the engine with the plastic "3400" cover, so I was never able to see what the plenum looked like. Although the TB is on the wrong side, the manifolds are somewhat reversable (with the LIM off the car the plenum can be flip flopped).
I decided to take a risk and buy a 3400 equinox plenum .... here are the not so good results. However the good news is it only cost me $10 for return shipping to the salvage dealer.
Manifold sits too high for the hood to close on my 2001 Grand Am
With the TB facing the way the original N-body TB faces, the back corner hit the PS pump tank.
Too Tall
Please feel free to add any other know differences on the Equinox 3400 engine. I am very curious about the cam as the cam has a different part number than the 3400 & 3500 cam which both share the same part #. I am wondering if there are different specs on the Nox cam.
