  • Spark plugs

all you Grand am owners ,, I'm lookin for a performance spark plug what you suggest using in 3400 motor??? E3 has one out now that is supposed to increase power like 12% and increase fuel mileage ,because of better cumbustion . Anyone know any thing about it ???? I want something that has stock heat range if at all possible....

Please, lets not start this again! Do a search of the forums and see what everyone has to say about this. A spark plug does one thing, makes a spark, ONE spark, no matter how many prongs or gaps or grooves it has. Yes, there are debates about flame fronts, dispersal and such, but honestly, you won't be able to tell the difference between the $15 "high performance" plugs and the $1.99 AC Delcos.

I use NGK V-Power coppers plugs in EVERYTHING. I have had no problems with them. There may be a better plug out there, but I haven't found it yet. In my opinion, for the price, ($2.50/ea) it's very hard to go wrong. My Escort idles better with them versus MotorCraft, and my Olds 3100 idled better and had slightly better throttle response.

You aren't going to get HP out of plugs, not 12%. Maybe 12% of 1 hp... lol.

Our ignitions run bad on single platnium. Get dual (prong and tip), or get the normal plugs and replace them when needed. Mine runs great on the normal plugs. Nice and smooth.

AC delco R44LTSM6 Plain regular spark plug. It's not platinum, but works great. Get them at just about any parts store. They won't last as long as platinums but who cares... It's what my 3100 takes, and will run fine in a 3400. Later they went to platnium for longer service intervals I'm sure.

The Delco Iridium plug is $6+. Thats what the car came with, the ones they say only need to be changed every 100,000 miles. www.rockauto.com Search this site, there should be a discount code floating around.

Im using NGK Iridium on my engien but it is a distributor ignition. Love the plug idles as smooth as glass and I run a .065gap with my Crane Ignition and it hauls ass and never misses a beat all the way to red line.
