  • Thermostat Housing

    As my 3.4 in an MG project continues I find myself using more Fiero parts on the engine - the oil pan is more shallow for ground clearane etc.

    One thing I can't use is the thermostat neck as it includes the filler neck on the Fiero. The Camaro unit points the wrong way for me - to the passenger side of the car.

    Anyone know of one from some variant that points to the left side a bit?

    My current sample is this:

    Fiero = straight up

    Camaro = slightly angled to the right

    3400 transverse = way to the right

    Are there no left leaning housings out there? S-10 or something?

    S-10 also points to the right.

    You might want to look at a different engine, say try a SBC, or a 4 cyl, or ????

      Here is an S-10. It goes to passenger side. But it is much shorter than a Camaro one. I have an extra Camaro and S-10 housing. If need be I could cut and weld the housing in a different position.

        Thanks for the input.
        The S-10 doesn't come out flat, and would interfere with the Camaro throttle body. It may well be that there is no such thing as a flat-out-to-the-left neck on these engines, and they seem to be a different size and bolt pattern than the SBC.

        Rats!!

        Guess I can either make one (welding pot metal isn't much fun) or just get a curved hose. I'll think it through before applying hacksaw to existing 3.4 Camaro elbow.......

          I believe the iron head thermo housings have a different bolt spacing then the aluminum ones. I mocked up my fiero thermo housing to a gen 3 intake and its a no go.
