  • Little problems after little problems

Lately after about 5mins of driving a loud scratching noise has been coming from my brakes. It did this before but Me and my dad took a look at the brakes couple of weeks earlier and just a little top part of the brake pads were rusted so he rubbed it against some concrete and it was fine.

But now it's doing it all over again and when I turn the wheel it's this same noise but like (screech, screech, screech as my wheel rotates). I even took it to the brake shop and they said "there good" (paid the s.o.b $20 for waiting 3hrs,sitting down watching american muscle about some damn mustangs until my ass started hurting went threw 6 cigarettes all in patience.. to get a f****** slap on the back!!!).

So any help on solving this small announce is appreciated? also as far as brakes go what should I look into as far as having stronger and longer lasting brakes, I do alot of stop go (deliever newspapers) and Mine obviously suck.

You may have worn wheel bearings or hub bearings. You may have a combination of worn drive train parts such as CVD shaft, wheel bearings, struts...

Wheel bearings will make a humming sound, not a screech. They get louder or quieter when you turn the wheel at speed depending on which side the bad one is on. You might just need a good lube on the hardware and other contacts--caliper, pads, etc. As far as break pads...I put a set of Wagner Thermo Quiets on my Lumina and LOVE them! Also did a brake fluid exchange too. Very responsive and touchy.

Blah..... my front wheel bearings are completely shot. They dont make any noise at all. Til you hit the brakes at somewhere near 60mph. If you're not pressing hard enough the car shakes like one of the front wheels is gonna fall off. And i'm pretty sure that one of them is about to.

Really? Never heard of that before. Sure your tie rods and ball joints are tight? If they're bad enough they can cause that shaking, but they'd have to be pretty bad.

There's a bad tie-rod on the drivers side, but that side really dont make it shake. And yes, the bearings are very VERY bad. If i drive the car right now i dont get it up over about 30 mph. Until things get fixed.

Thats why I used the words May have.

Lower ball joints make a popping sound and alinement is flacky, feels as if tires are unbalanced even though they were just balanced. One bad joint anywhere effects the suspension as a whole.
