  • Oil pan interchanging

    I should know this, but I would like to be 100% sure. Would a 3rd Gen 3X00 oil pan fit on a 2nd Gen 2.8/3.1 V6? I'm a n00b :P. 88GTRacer

I would love to figure out what if anything would make it work though.

I tried a Pushrod 2.8-3.1 pan on a dohc and only the front 2 bolts lined up.

What year DOHC? I wasn't aware the older pushrod pans didnt work on the DOHC but i hadn't tried either.

            RE: Oil pan interchanging

I have a 3.4 DOHC's oil pan on my 3.4 Pushrod (94-95 f-bod motor) And that was on my old 2.8 that my 88 Fiero GT used to have... It wouldn't fit on an 86 or earlier though, due to a different timing cover design. But it does fit the block. They move as a pair. Its only the aluminum pans and the blocks that match them that don't interchange with anything else.
