  • High Amp Alt for a 3400? and serp belt question

    Do all alternators for a 3100 fit a 3400?

This is for my 3400 out of a old silhouette for my 95 grand prix.

Anyone have a link for a good 160 amp alt?

Also I went to the parts store to buy a serp belt, they said they had 2 sizes? is this true? one for a 105 amp and one for a 130 amp? How and the heck do I tell which one I need? It all depends on which alt I buy I guess. A stock 130amp would be nice. I also have a ffp pulley. So I need to go 1 inch shorter.

Its actually 140 amps. 2 types. The cs-144 and the valeo144. You can use both and they are both good alternators. I use the Valeo model. You'll need a few particular brakets but you can use them.

I'm sure the CS-144 uses a bigger belt because its is so much a bigger alternator. Apparently the Valeo model doesn't use it since I'm still using the same belt I used to use when I ran the CS-130.
