Oil Temp Gauge - Mechanical fitting

I intended to utilize an Auto Meter Oil Temp gauge (Mechanical) on my www.StalkerV6.com but, the thread pattern of the hole on the left side of the oil pan (current low level indicator probe???) seems just a bit off.
The Auto Meter fitting is 1/2" NPT - Does anyone know the diameter/thread of that existing hole. I'd like to avoid welding in a new bung.

It is not any form on NTP thread because it has no taper. If you look you will see it uses a gasket.

It is a 3/4 threaded hole and apears to be course thread. But I dont have any thread guages here to check.

Any chance it might be some weird but close metric size?

BTW: Is that probe for low oil sensor?

It could be metric.

And in actual fact it is not 3/4" thats too small. But 13/16 is too big.

Take it to a hardware store and find out.

60Deg hardware is all metric!

The Oil Level sensor thread is either a 20 or 22mm coarse pitch thread. I made a bung for the pan in my truck and had some pieces left over but cannot find them today to measure...

Then why is there NPT threads for the coolant drain holes and sensor holes? Thats not metric :P

That's the funny thing. I actually installed the Auto Meter supplied probe (BEFORE I GOT THE MOTOR RUNNING) and THOUGHT it fit O.K.
My mechanic (who got it running and did some other back-up work) removed the probe and fitting saying "It would leak" though neither of us actually saw it leak. He DID say there was a thread mis-match but, IT MUST BE CLOSE. I didn't force it.
Meantime, I've sent a note to Auto-Meter - I can't imagine they've never had this issue before.
In any event, I'll post whatever cure I discover.

Promised I'd post Auto Meter's response. I don't think it's responsive:

sandwich adapter is used.

sounds like they know alot about earls... they must do alot of "re-directting" instead of solving.
