  • Head gaskets

It would be nice to know the specifications on the head gaskets, that way you can find a cheap way to move your CR around, or what combo piston/gasket/head comes up with what. so far i think i know the gen1 and 2 gaskets:
    2.8/3.1 iron heads 3.643" bore x .042" thick
    2.8/3.1 aluminum heads 3.643 x .065, i assume the 3100 is the same...

I'd like to know the bore and thickness of the 3400, the 3.4sfi, and the new 3500 in the malibu and the 05 g6, if anyone knows or can get ahold of one to spec it out. the info is greatly apreaciated by me, and im sure others would put it to good use.

I'll have to check it out, there are several different part numbers for the headgaskets on the 3400's. I ordered a couple of them for my '04 3400 from work, should be in tomorrow as well as a pair of intake gaskets with a new part number for '04 as well.

since its on the topic of head gaskets, this is gonna be stupid. but, i looked all over my head gaskets during assembly and didnt see any mark or "this side up" or "top" anywhere on my gasket, so i installed it with the metal "web" side up. did i totaly mess this up (since thats what i do...)? i figured that the metal would sort of squish into the aluminum better than the iron.
