  • all aluminum 2.8 need details!!!!!!!

I just bought a fresh rebuilt all aluminum 2.8 for 500 bucks. The heads have the larger valves in them 1.72 and 1.5 on my pocket caliper set. They also have a stamping on them saying property of R.M co, return to R.M. company

The rebuild took place about 6 yrs ago and the previous owner bought it from a school/or gm test facility in nedham or dedham mass (never spoke with him got it through a third party.

Does anyone know anything about R.M. company and the history of the 2.8 suposedly this was a test motor from gm used in a fiero and they dynoed it at 225 hp at 5k rpm. The think looks like it is stock though except for the fact that it is all aluminum including the heads.

Very interesting, there may have been more than one prototype aluminum block 2.8. The only one I know of escaped the GM facility for sale it featured a removeable lifter gallery and wetliners with the intended design for turbo application. Don't know if this is the one you have or not though.

There was another one floating around the board several months ago. Shaun41178 had it and sold it.

Looks like a prototype to me. No clue who RM company is but id say its a rare block with probably little info to be found online on it. Doesn't look to have the 4 bolt mains like the bowtie block and the lifter valley comes out which isn't normal.

Can anyone suggest torque specs on this engine, specifically for heads and crank? maybee just the bowtie specs would work.
