  • caused 3400 rod bearing damage, need help!!

So I ran my 3400/3500 hybrid today for the first time after rebuild and it is making a slight knocking noise.. I need your expertise because I don't remember which way the rods were supposed to be facing! They are all facing towards the bellhousing I believe. When I built it was 8 months ago or so. At the very bottom of the rod there is an angle/slope cut into the very last Chuck of metal of the rods. For whatever reason I faced them all towards the bellhousing. There is zero binding of the bottom end and it rotated with minimum effort when the heads were off. I don't remember which way the bearing tangs are facing but both tangs are on the same side of the cap, all caps match the rods, ARP rod bolts torqued to 40 ft lb. I rebuilt the lifters so it may be push rod knock from the lifters not pumping up. I primed them, probably 9 months ago. Please let me know which one it could be.

Generally I put the tangs towards the middle, so each bank is different. Shouldn't really matter or cause the bearings to spin. It takes a bit for the lifters to pump up with oil, so that very well could be the noise.

Thank you for the reply. Im pretty sure all the arrows on the Pistons are facing the same way. Which in turn made all the rods face one way which confuses me. The Pistons where not separated from the rods. Doest sound correct to you? So you think I don't have to rotate 3 rods around? The rods are factory offset on the Pistons pins, so the first time I installed the rods with the arrows facing the timing cover, it binded up and did not want to turn. With arrows facing the bellhousing it seen right and turns so smoothly. I'm lost here
