The block is 6 pounds heavier. Cams add 17 pounds each I think. Its definetly heavier, but I dunno about 100 pounds. The crank and rods and all that crap are the same, and the intake manifolds are pretty close.

I dont have a scale anymore, but I pick them up all the time. With the valvetrain bolted on, the DOHC heads are probably 10 pounds heavier. The stock lifters are also um...77 grams * 24. You also have the timing belt stuff, the cam gears, and the timing chain cover differences. I guess we need a heavy duty fish scale (not gonna be a fish scale, thats the only term I can think of) and a hoist.

Are we talking iron or aluminum pushrod heads?

I am talking aluminum, since its the FWD platform and thats all the DOHC came as.

Although i don't haev exact weight, I know that the DOHC heads are heavier(than a set of 3400 heads that I had). And that was without the cam carriers. Those cam carriers weigh a lot too!

The cam carriers are aluminum and dont weigh hardly anything.

When I pulled the TDC in favor of the 3400 the nose of my car rose 3/4"-1" and the tracking became more precise, doesn't feel like its dragging its ass around the corners as much as it used to...... So, work on that one....

Using the 1995 Chevy Monte Carlo as my baseline.

3100 AVERAGE base curb weight = 3276 lbs.

                          3.4 DOHC LS Z34 BCW = 3452 lbs.

                          A differance of 176 lbs.

Now, I know that there can be some weight added with options.....

                          BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

A 1995 Monte Carlo with OPTIONS?????

The car gets a plastic armrest. I rest my case. :wtf:

Its fricking common sense, the cam carriers themselves weigh like nothing, so becuz I said "they weigh a lot!", I figured you'd get the hint.

So if you wanted to keep apples vs apples, basically you'd have to race the Z34 without a DRIVER?
