  • Cam plug???

I am rebuilding a 3100 and am unable to find a replacement cam plug (goes at the back of cam). Does anyone know what gm calls these, a part number, or where I can get one? Autzone/Napa/Orei do not have them. Thanks.

You mean the Oil Pump Drive Gear?

V6HO - Its the plug at the rear of the camshaft opening, I had to knock it out to install the cam bearings.

The oil pump drive gear that you are describing is on the top side of the engine where the distrib used to be on the older 2.8, correct?

Go to an engine Machine shop, they will have them, if not, I can get you one.

I am 99% sure that the same plug for a late model SBC (305, 350 '95 and up IIRC), will fit in just the same should be same OD.

I will try the dealer and machine shop, he gave me a load of parts including galley plugs but did not include that one. It is a weird style, squarish with the round cam inpression.
