i got a 2.8 into a fiero and when the engine is cold we can hear the intake a lot wisling!
it is heard around the t.b.
i'm running a cone type filter directed into the ram air into the side of the body
i read somewhere that a throttle body shim with a vortex effect would cure the problem
if that works wy not a spiral max vortex maker or any competitor ,it shure looks like it will affect the air more than a shim

    any ideas

That sound is normal. If you dont' want that hissing noise then put the stock intake tube and box back on it.

As was said its completely normal. The stock airbox/intake tube is designed to quiet down the intake so you can't hear that. It sounds good IMO, but if you don't want it, just put your stock intake back on it. I don't know how some spiral thingy would help though.

those spiral max and tornado things only work if you have iron heads
what they are supposed to do is put a spin on incoming air as to help make the fuel charge more homogenous
if you have aluminum heads the design of the heads already does this so in that case the stay away from putting anything in the path of the incoming air

actually the weight of the air in the atmosphere surrounding the earth pushes air into the intake because the cylinders create a partial vacuume when the valve is opened
