  • TPS voltage

    Hey Guys

    We are using mostly gm sensors for our formula sae car with the pe-ltd.com ecu. I still need a TPS however, we require one that shows 0V closed and 5V open. I was told all gm sensors were like that, however I would just like to have it confirmed.

    Thanks;

    All they really are is a potentiometer, or similar to a rheostat.

      So to fully answer the question... if 5v is applied to the sensor, it will read 0v shut and ~5v when open.

          Voltage will depend on your refrence signal. But yes all GM sensor/systems have and still use a 5V refrence.

          Now I have never checked a TPS so I am not sure if it actually will go from 0% to 100%. If I get a change I have one off my truck and could test it.

            I thought it went from .5v to 5v.

              The way it mounts on the shaft only allows it to go down to ~0.5V, but the potentiometer itself will go all the way down to 0v.
