on my 2000 3400 swap with 91 3.1 ECM I was planning on making an EGR adapter so I could use the 3.1's EGR. Could I instead just make a block off plate then disable egr in the ECM? This would be about 100 times easier, however I heard not running EGR had some bad side effects such as holed pistons.

It will not have any negative side effects on performance or anything, except for an intermintent SES light-but if you disable it with the chip then you will not get a SES light.
I have had mine off for some time now, about 8,000 miles now, and so far there are no negative effects that can be noticed. But don't plan on passing emissions without it.

I've gone almost 2 years without mine and no issues. I don't have it disabled in the code and I rarely get an SES light.-Brad-
