temp guage

i was just wondering what the theme is for everyones temp guage

i have a 94 retta with 2.2 5 speed
and when i start it it heats up till it gets to the half way mark then drops right down to the 1/4 make on the guage
from there it ususally sits right around the 1/4 mark while im driveing
it only goes past that if i sit and let it idle for a long time in which case ive seen it go to the 3/4 make

mine will get right past the halfway mark then the car will stall.

why does it stall

when I start up, it stays down. While driving it stays at the 160 area (under 1/4). Sitting idling, it RARELY gets above the 180 mark (just over the 1/4 mark). Only once has it ever gone higher and that was before the 160 stat. When I had the 190 stat in there, it hung out in the 190-220 area.

i don't know why. it's kinda strange because it doesn't get anywhere close to the red on the gage.
