  • 3100 egr

    I had to unplug the elect from my EGR valve. will this cause any problems. the car is working better with it unplugged.

    1995 grand am
    3100
    4spd auto
    358000 KMS ( runs smooth, dosent burn any oil)

    actualy, it wont run any better, it will just cause a check engine light and could cause the car to go into limp mode. your car is designed to use the egr, and unless you have tuning equiptment, you cant compensate for it not bing there.

      Why did you have to unplug it?
      If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

        I unpluged it because when the car was cold it kept shutting off, i change a few parts, that didn't work so i unplugged the egr valve and now it run great. also i had a shutter @ 80 - 100 KM/h i changed the coils, plugs wires and also changed the TCC solinoid none of that worked but with the EGR unplugged there is no shutter and it dosen't shut off when cold. the cars runs great it seems to have a little bit more power and the gas millage has inproved a little.

          I agree. And the only reason it runs better now, is that your EGR was bad in the first place. I know a lot of people say block it off, but I see no gains that have been proved as of yet. I'd just replace the bad one and prevent any potential issues.
