  • Equinox 3400 plenum

my dad just bought a new Equinox, so I instantly had to go check the engine bay since it comes with the 3400. I was suprised at first because the TB is on the passenger side (I guess the engine needed to be flipped around to accomidate the AWD tranny?) but what I found more interesting is the plenum, its not the typical 3x00 design, it looks way different. the lower manifold looks to be the same as previous 3x00s but the upper is definately different. I'll try to get a picture as soon as I get the nerve to tear the plastic cover off the manifold
I don't know is the new design is better or worse than the typical 3x00 plenum but its definately something to glance at.
Sorry if this is old news.

ya, I noticed that in the winter at a car show. priced it out from GM and it was $350+ apparently. was going to try it, but that's too much $$$

yeah from the looks of it, it doesn't have the volume the regular 3x00 plenums do. I thought the main purpose of the plenum was to "store" extra air volume?

The new plenum actually adds over 3" of runner length, up to ~19", from ~15.75". As soon as I get the PN, I'll probably be ordering one to mess around with. I have a picture of the engine, but it has the cover on it, so the plenum is hard to make out.

I'll see what I can do to get a coverless picture and post is up. I'm just afraid that I'll find some way to break the cover.

That engine still makes 185 @5200RPM but the torque peak dropped. Still 210lbs-ft but at 3800RPM instead of 4000 RPM. So theres your torquer setup.

I took a look at one the other day, It looks Identical to the 3500 plenum but just has the t/b neck going UP off the Pass side of the engine. Doesnt look like it has any more Runner Length to it as its the same box style plenum as the 3500
