  • I need help diagnosing a not start on my 3400/3500

I have built and installed a new hybrid 3400/3500 to replace my mostly stock 3400 in my Fiero.
I've used almost all the same electronics and harness. The engine cranks but won't fire.
I have verified fuel to the engine, but haven't had a chance to check anything else.
I need to verify ignition and injection.
How do I test the injectors are firing?
For now I'm going to assume the ecu is not the culprit, as I checked my ecu that ran my stock 3400 and the new one tuned for the hybrid, with no change. I'm sure I have something hooked up wrong, or possibly a bad sensor (or maybe a non-compatible sensor).
Are all the 2005 LA1 sensors compatable with 2002 LA1 ones? My two crank sensors are
    From the 2005 LA1.
    Thanks for your help.

As I'm sure this will take a few tries to narrow down the issue, I will update things as I verify them.
ECU : Assumed good as I tried two
Fuel supply: fuel pump good, pressure to rail
    Fuel pressure at rail: good
    ICM:good
    Injectors:wrong ones but good
Idiot hooking up fuel lines: not so good...

I would start by checking fuses, then check to make sure you have +12v on the 2 pin connector of the ICM.

Easiest way to check injectors is remove the rail and crank it with them all plugged in... they will spray if working properly... or the old fashioned way of pulling the plug to see if it's wet but that would require almost flooding the engine to get that result. I mixed and matched many sensors between years and engines on my 97 ECU and I never had a problem... crank, cam, and everything in between.

I started a thread on Pennocks as well as this one. Can be read here for a good laugh:

Epic. Glad you figured it out though...
