  • Identify this upper intake

I saw this intake today at the junkyard. I've never seen this upper before. I did a quick search but couldn't find anything. It appeared to be a 3500, but had a different upper intake. It was in a Impala.

Pretty sure that's an LZ4, one of the VVT engines.

Yes, LZ4, 3.5L. Will only fit the LZ4 and the LZ9 (3.9L). Will not fit other versions of the 60 degree V6.

It could be a 3900 in that impala pending on the year of the car. the 09's for sure have that intake asI picked up an 09 impala engine with the same upper intake on it. Gm dropped the variable intake upper after a couple years of production and went to the large plenum design on later model lz9's.

hopefully the 3900 catches on more. its got good potential for hp upgrades.

Dang! I was hoping it would bolt to an LX9. That little pocket would've worked for my Rotrex location, instead of the power steering pump. Oh well, I'll have to figure something else out.

I have an LX9 upper intake, if you want. PM me. Maybe we can work something out.
