  • Maybe a stupid question..

When I go about swapping the 3400 into my Second gen, I know the 3400's have that sensor ring built into the crankpulley. If I go with an aftermarket pulley will I have to swap sensor ring? Or does the 3.1 5 speed not use that ring inside the pulley.

The ring is a 3x00 specific thing. It is used by the computer to get a more accurate idea of the location of the crank in order to smooth the low-RPM idle quality. If you are using your MPFI ECM, then no, you don't need to worry about it.
