  • How badly did I F up?

I have been taking my rebuild slowly, and tonight I finally got the LIM off. I've been following an engine rebuild guide and followed their instructions for removal of the LIM. I had a lot of trouble getting it off, mainly because I stupidly left he fuel line bolt in...anyways...I think I slightly marred the outer side of the LIM. Luckly the studs are ok and don't appear to be bent (time will tell, I suppose).

Anyways, how badly did I mess up the LIM. Does it need to be replaced. I think I can make a good seal with some gaskets, but I wanted another set of eyes on this.

    Thanks guys.

I wouldn't worry about that, silicone will seal those tiny indentations.

Thats what I figured. Do you know how easy these are supposed to slip back on? I tried putting it back on to see if i messed up the studs and it did require a ittle bit of manipulation to get it to sit flush. The studs seem OK as the nuts do thread right over them.

      Thanks!

What studs are you talking about?

The corner bolts/studs that hold on the lower intake manifold. I think there are 8 small bolts and the 4 large corner studs.

Oh I have no idea on that stuff. Never owned an iron head.

Does anyone have experience with this? I want to make sure I didn't mess up my LIM corner studs as the manifold was difficult to remove. I tried putting it back on and it will go on but needed some manipulation, it certainly doesn't just slide right over the studs. They all appear to be straight and true, but I am uncertain if I have messed anything up. I think they can be replaced relatively easily, but would be nice not to.

                Thanks!

As long as you can get it to sit flush, you'll be fine. It will seal.

That's normal for the iron head motors. You have to walk them on and off. The TBI engines are harder because there are 6 studs.
