The mounting pattern is quite different. The vanes do point the right way though.

I considered using the old Moroso electric water pump drive motor at one point. But they were never known for reliability in street use.

As a side note, there is no way to really make the engine shorter in height correct? The oil pan is absurdly deep in my opinion but shortening that would do no good as the trans is level with it and the trans pan is all of a 1/2" deep. I know it is a completely separate topic but I didn't want to start another thread for something I don't think is possible. I just don't want to assume it is impossible but I see no way of practically doing it.

Lots of other engines have deep skirt blocks and thus shorter oil pans. The oil pans are similar in depth to classic SBC oil pans.

No, the gen3 variant is probably the shortest 660 you will find. TBI and carb versions were taller. IIRC gen2 was slightly taller, but by about 1/2" or so that would likely not even be noticeable by most.

Okay thanks, that's what I figured. I knew the pan was that deep because the block doesn't have a long skirt but most all oil pans have a little space to shorten them, albeit with a loss in oil capacity.

The oil pan could be shortened, but it won't really gain you anything, because as you said, the trans pan hangs as low.

Alright thanks. Anyone else have pictures of how they rerouted their belt?
