I thought the 24x sensor was also used to detect misfires

i can't speak for OBD2, but the P66 V6 PCM uses it for a couple of things, MOSTLY low-RPM engine speed calcs and used to schedule more frequent MAP reads(which are then averaged together every 4 24X pulses). that PCM doesn't do any type of misfire stuff, but the 94-95 LQ1 PCM/code uses it for that. it's safe to assume it is done that way for OBD2 PCMs as well, it's a lot easier to monitor crank acceleration/deceleration with the 24X than it is with the 7X.

That would still be a monitor, and not used for ignition control. There are a number of things that could cause a misfire.

Took the car out today and it ran really good. Entered my first autocross as well. Didn't do so good at that though. Thanks for the help everyone.
