Questions about the different versions of the LA1.

Hi there, I'm new to the site, so hello and I'm sure I will have lots of questions in the future. Nice to meet the community.

So, I'm pretty much a former Quad 4 guy who has since moved on to the 3400. My dad is a 3400 guy, so you know, lots of parts lol. Here's my question. I've been researching the engine all evening and it seems that different applications had more hp/tq. Could anyone possibly tell me why those differences exist and if it's something I can apply to my 2002 gagt to eek out 10 more hp? I do plan to install some bolt ons any ways, but I have a close friend with a salvage yard and can get what ever I'd need at next to nothing if I can get that bit of hp.

First off, welcome! As far as the slight differences in HP, it typically has to do with either slight changes to the programming for the specific platform, or other platform specifics like the exhaust setup/routing. The engines themselves are identical.
