  • Venture/Montanna fuel economy mods

Just wandering if anyone had any success stories on fuel economy mods to these vans, not that the mileage is bad, in our 99 montanna we get a surprising 35ish mpg on the highway if I stay under 60 mph, around town mileage as with most larger vehicles could use some room for improvement. Tuned a good number of cars, mostly turbo, and have been polishing my soldering skills lately so I'm thinking of doing a fuel only MS1 install and give it fuel economy tune(except WOT) maybe even experiment with lean burn cruise, stock ignition appears to be pretty aggressive given the amount of spark knock this engine has on regular gas. I have also been experimenting with water injection for the last 10 years, this motor seems to respond very well, no knock counts on reg, full timing with decent bump in power and few more mpgs. I don't currently have the system working at the moment due to a pump failure. I also got a $7 arduino nano coded pretty well to act as a control module, couple odds and ends and its just as good as the $300 unit vendors sell. Also considering going low pressure turbo later on down the line, I was also curious how the mileage has been on all you turbo guys, I have never been able to tell on my past cars because the right foot was always planted. Anyhow if anyone has something to share from experience on this subject I would love to hear it.
