You can run a 3100 SFI on a 3.1 MPFI engine. People worry too much about SFI and MPFI. The SFI is for fuel economy and actually switches to batch (MPFI) at higher RPMs. Do a search on here, or in the engine swap section and you'll find several people on here running 3x00s on old ECMs.-Brad-

its actually interesting...in 1994 cavaliers still had the 3.1 mpfi, and the 5 spd was available. in the beretta's 1994 showed the first year for the 3100 sfi motor...and no 5 spd. there was probably enough requests for a 5spd/v6 z24, so they used up the last of the mpfi motors in those.
and if putting a 3100 or 3400 (almost the same...just like 2.8-3.1), you can run it on your computer that is in the car...i dont know about wiring certain sensors up though.2.5 '88-93 mazda b series trucks:current daily-b2800 (carb chevy 2.8l), 4x4, 31"s, bushbar, rollbar
