  • Wanting to switch out MPFI plenum with SFI plenum

I have a 3.1 iron head RWd engine. I have the MPFI set up from my 2.8L that i was going to put on. But I'm running into hood clearance issues.
I have an 3.4L SFI upper and lower complete with fuel rail. That i plan on switching out with the MPFI set up. I am not familiar with DIS as I had a distributor. I understand I'll need a oil pump drive gear and need to switch to DIS or ford edis. CAn I still run batch fire or does it need to be the sequential fire. I am building a MSII for my ecm.
    Vehicle is an MGB roadster.

You'll need aluminum heads as well to use the SFI intake. Batch fire works fine. The oil pump drive is basically the bottom half of a distributor.

from the sounds of it, he's referring to the F-body 3.4, which was gen 1 SFI...

i imagine the SFI UIM would bolt to any gen 1 LIM, but i really don't know.

getting the DIS functional would require either some frankensteined dizzy or having a block mounted crank sensor and reluctor, like everything else SFI.

Ya forgot about the 3.4 SFI setup .
Running DIS with batch fire means probably an external crank trigger and using the wires going to the ICM/coil and splicing them to the wires going to the DIS module pigtails. Britishcarconversions.com is now selling a RWD external trigger though which makes it easier.

Cam sensor is only needed for SFI.

Cool, thanks for the info.. I'll give Marc a call. I've bought stuff from him before for my MG.

definitely the route i would go with a gen1(other than a 3.4 block, since it already has all of the provisions for both SFI and DIS).

SFI feels pointless to me, but DIS is certainly an improvement over the dizzy setup.

That certainly looks a like nice and clean install, almost like it came that way stock.
