Hello gang! Tonight something tragic happened on the way home from work on the interstate. I'm driving along only person on the highway, slow lane and someone flying up behind like the headless horseman gets on my tail and decides to stay there. This went on for a good few miles. I've got the cruise set on 72. I got sick of it, so I drop it back into drive and stood on it. At first, it looked to be a fusion. It stayed on me TIGHT! Then changed to the fast lane. I almost dove through the windshield at 104?? Fuel shut off! What ripped past me in the fast lane? It was a........Yaris? A damn Toyota Yaris WTF??? OHHH NO! We can't have this shit! What moron put a top speed limiter of 104 on PONTIAC GRAND AM GT coupe?? <Well before a flamefest> For starters, I'm old enough to know better....but the hwy was deserted add the damn testosterone. This spring, a 3500 UIM, first full tune up, open air cleaner, and shortstar T.B. is in order since the Nylon intake gasket is getting chucked. Any other suggestions like a donor ECU that does not have a speed governor? The car is like new shape wise at 107k on the clock. I inherited it from my mom as she just passed away in Oct. It only had 98k on it when I took possession of it.

Sorry to hear about your mom.
You don't need a new pcm. You can change the limiter with HPT.

I don't think those little cars have governors.
My 2000 neon got to 200km/h back when I was younger and much dumber....
Old civics will run til there's no power left too...
You must remember, even if you change your PCM, your tires aren't rated for that speed!
I think S rated tires are rated to 160km/hr, or 100mph

I drove a Yaris a couple hundred miles, and got to play around a little on (haha) "jackrabbit starts." It's very lightweight, and I have to say I was impressed with the acceleration, such as it was. I mean for not being designed for it. It even got me looking under the hood for ways to SC it, lol1999 GLS MP90 supercharged / 2003 GL MP62 supercharged / 2004 GLS stock
