  • Switched Ignition Power in on 3100 V6

    Hi All,

Maybe an odd question, but I need an answer I'm having a hard time tracking down.

I have a 2003 Grand Prix SE with the 3100 under the hood. Decent engine once GM's stupid plastic intake manifold gaskets are gone. Anyways - I need a wire to tap under the hood that gets power when the key's in the Run position. This is just to trigger the coil on a relay, to in turn light some custom DRL's - so we're talking a real low current draw off whatever line I can find.

I can start spinning my wheels with a DMM, but was hoping someone could save me the time and give me a location and color for a switched power wire under the hood?

    Thanks in advance!

Wiper motor is a good spot one of the wires will be hot with key on.

there are actually a lot of options for you, i guess it depends on what section of the engine bay you want to start at.

Or you can tap into the fuse block with an add a circuit deal and pick a fuse that's power with key on.
