  • should i trade my 93 lumina for a 95 camaro 3.4?

    Exactly what the title says.

My car is a 1993 lumina, 243k miles. 3.1 mpfi. With a ton of new parts. Like head gaskets, LIM gaskets, gas tank. List goes on really. Over 1000 bucks worth of work I've done to it at least.

A guy is wanting to trade me his 1995 camaro with the 3.4. Has 270k miles. Auto with t tops. He said no major engine or trans work has been done recently. Car currently has an exhaust leak and has a valve cover oil leak. He still says it runs really smooth. He just wants a more reliable car with better gas milage.

What do you guys think? Are those engines bad in those camaros? Any common issues? I love my lumina don't get me wrong. Its nothing but dependable. But it still needs some suspension work and other misc things. Also I'm suspecting the LIM gasket is leaking again.

Well, how are the winters where you live? F bodies are miserable in the snow.

Gas mileage will be similar between the 2 cars, if winter isn't a concern and the car is in good shape then i'd go for it.

Just like any 60v6 you have a ton of options with that engine, but you'll also have the added benefit of a full aftermarket of chassis/suspension parts. You can have loads of fun with it depending on how deep your pockets are.
