I just finished rebuilding and putting a 2.8 out of a '91 2wd S-10 pickup in my '85 4x4 Blazer. Naturally I swapped the oil filter adapter from the Blazer engine onto the pickup engine. The one that was originally on the pickup had the filter alongside the block wall going back. The 4x4 piece mounts the filter straight out sideways from the block. After starting the new engine momentarily it started dumping oil pretty bad from somewhere around the adapter. I cannot see exactly where from. This has been a long-term project (about 8 months) and I'm a little fuzzy on the details trying to remember them. IS there an O-ring I should have replaced on this assembly? Are there any oil passage holes through the adapter bolt that hold it to the block? There is a chance I may have mixed up the two bolts, were there any differences in them through the years? Any other ideas from anyone. The truck dumped all 5 quarts in about a half hour of first cranking the engine over. I am pretty sure I didn't smack the adapter on anything installing the engine. It went pretty smooth. thanks for your help.
