3.9L: Need help identifying some parts

I am working on a 2008 Impala LZG engine and need help identifying what the two posts are on either side of the block. On one side it is just above the crank position sensor.

I suspect they are either the displacement on demand actuators or Knock sensors. Does anyone know?
