  • Will a 3400 Throttlebody bolt up to LX9 Intk Mani?

As the title says, I would like to know if a 3400 throttlebody will bolt up to an 3500 (LX9) intake manifold?

What about a 3100 throttlebody? Is it identical to the 3400 throttlebody except with a slightly smaller bore?

I'm having driveability issues right now my LX9 swap and I want to eliminate the 3.4 dohc throttlebody that I modified to work as a possible cause.

I have an old Gen II 3.1 throttlebody that seems to line up to the bolt holes but it is really on the small side and the shaft bearings are worn.

Basically, I want to know if there is any throttlebody available that will bolt right up (no adapters), regardless of the bore size. I don't care if it is on the small side since this is mostly for test purposes.

    1. Yes it will bolt up if you turn the tb at a weird angle. An adapter plate is still needed to due to the fact that the 3400tb is so small. Also throttle cable bracket will take some modifying. I looked into this route when I first did my LX9 swap. I decided to use the 3.5dohc throttle and ForcedFirebirds adapter.

    2. I don't think there are any that will bolt right up w/o an adapter.

So what's wrong with your current setup? Throttle bodies don't really go bad.....

I'm having a problem with the MAP sensor indicating a very low vacuum in the intake manifold when at part throttle. I was thinking perhaps the 3.4 dohc TB was too big so I wanted to try something smaller. Seems counterintuitive since the LX9 came with I believe a 65mm TB but I'm running out of ideas.

Though, in the latest bin that I tried the engine is running noticeably better, not 100% but an improvement. So it may just be the tune.
