AC compressors between applications

Working on my 2005 Equinox 3400 (LNJ) build into a 86 Fiero with a 4 speed manual, anyway got to the AC compressor and got stuck. The motor I got didn't come with a compressor so, because of the PCM and wiring harness I'm using (98 Monte Carlo 3100) I decided to pick up an AC compressor from that motor. Well it seems the bolt holes don't line up at all between the compressor and the bracket, nor the holes on the block.

So my question to you gurus out there, can a 98 PCM and wiring harness run a 2005 Equinox AC compressor? Will I need to splice the connectors but it'll work? Or does the Equinox use some weird PCM control on the compressor that won't let it work properly on an old style computer? Would it be easier to fab up a new adapter for the old style compressor?

That's a tough one to answer directly but the compressors all should work nearly the same electrically. Clutch, pressure switches/sensors etc... The question is how much power does the clutch need and what are the switch/sensor requirements.

I agree, but I wouldn't worry about the power draw of the clutch. I don't see the Equinox drawing some absurd amount of power. Besides, the PCMs most of the time trigger a relay to handle the power draw and don't usually control the clutch directly. As long as you get a compressor to fit your engine you should be good to go, I would imagine.

Got some info from Ryan at Sinister Performance. He said he looked up the 2005 Equinox and that the AC compressor was not a Variable Displacement compressor, thus I would require the use of the AC Cycling switch that is stock on my Fiero as well as the 3 wire AC pressure sensor. So it looks like I can bolt up the Equinox compressor and not have a whole lot of extra work.
