  • 3400 Equinox, High Value engine?

Does the Equinox LNJ 3400 (2005) share the same block with any of the other 60 degree V6's? This was about the time when the 3400 and 3500 were starting to share common parts right? So do the LNJ 3400 and LX9 3500 share blocks but have different bore and stroke? Or is this LNJ the same block as the LA1 with updates. Wiki doesn't go into much detail during the transition from "60 degree" to "High Value" engines.

The reason I ask is because someone was telling me the oiling system on their 2007 Equinox is terrible. Could this just be a fluke or is it common?

To the best of my knowledge, the LNJ shares the same block as the LA1. The LX9 is a different block.

How did they describe it as terrible?

I'm still waiting for an answer on the specifics of "terrible" and I'll let you know when I hear it. Also said the lifters are going to need to be replaced for the second time on a motor that has less then 100k miles. My thoughts are someone who owned that vehicle just didn't do maintenance on it and it's a fluke.
