  • Performance parts for a Chevy 2.8

I am looking to put a little pep in the step of my S10.
Just an intake and carb for it. Maybe a set of heads if not too much work is needed.

Does anyone know where I can find these parts? I cannot find anything on summit, all they have is for the 4.3.

has anyone done anything with this engine?

What year? Guessing by your user name it is a 91. If this is the case then you can buy a big bore TBI kit off of me or make one for yourself.

COMP Cams has a few cams and 1.6:1 roller tip rockers.

There is no head swap to speak of that "easy" there is a top end aluminum head conversion but it requires switching to port fuel injection and distributorless ignition.

It is actually a 93, I have had like three 91s so just habit so say 91.

Don't think your kit would work. Mine is carbed, not TBI.

Same with those heads you mentioned. How would I do that without being Fuel injected?

I'm not at the level of doing cams yet.
Only know what I can pick up in the shop.

Yours is only carb'd if you or a previous owner installed one. They were TBI from the factory

This one is carbed and I bought it that way. The guy I bought it from was not smart enought to change the clutch so i doubt he did it either.

Take a picture for us. If you or the previous owner did not change it then it seems very unlikely it has been modified and is most likely stock. If it is carb then please let us know what kind of intake and carb it has on it so we know if it is adequate or not for your goals.

I will once it clears up here. Alot of rain as of late. It looks stock. All I have done to it was a small tune up.
Most likely it just had the V6 taken out of a Camaro or something along those lines and put in.

                Does it look like this

I just went down to check and it is TBI. I was wrong. I have never taken the air cleaner off. I have only had it for about a month.
                  My mistake.

No worries thats why you go on the intertron to get the info you need. TBI is often confused with a carb because as soon as people see the air cleaner they look no further. In fact TBI can use all the aftermarket air cleaners that carbs use.

So if your strictly looking for bolt on parts then I would do the big bore TBI/Intake and headers. If your willing to pop off the valve covers then you can add 1.6:1 rocker from COMP which are under $150.

Thats what I did. I just figured air cleaner. carb. Never cared to look.

Which do you think would work better for the money? Can only afford to do one thing at a time right now.
How much work is involved in changing the rockers and all?

I have not ever worked on a V6, it is pretty similar to 350s and all?

It is very similar. In fact the rockers are identical other than the studs on the V6 being metric. Rockers are by far the cheapest you should be able to pick them up under $150 the COMP part number is 1414-12.

That is all i did, I saw the air cleaner and just assumed.

How much would the bore kit run me? I am working on a budget but do not mine putting out money to get it done.
Could I get a different TB to help it any or is that part of the process?
