  • 2.8 chevy interchange with 3.4 chevy?

Hello, I am new to this site and the 60 degree V6's. I have a 1959 Hillman Husky I plan to Hot Rod. These cars were nearly identical to the floor pan layout of the Sunbeam Alpine/Tiger of early to mid sixties. The Husky is a two-door wagon I plan to make into a panal delivery of sort. I want a 3.4v6 from a F-body but have access to a good 2.8 chevy from an 85 Camaro. The engine is strong and has been "gone through" by a tech school intructor. My question is this; will a setup for the 2.8 allow me to drop in a 3.4 at a later date without much modification? Am I better off waiting on a 3.4? Was the 2.8 a good engine? Is there a better choice?

Externally the 2.8L RWD engine is identical to a 3.4L RWD engine. Every mechanical part inside is the same except the pistons and crank. The oil pump is also different but it is interchangeable. So you could run a 2.8L for a bit and then drop in a 3.4L over the weekend later.
