  • Will this work ? 3500 LIM

I needed to plug the coolant outlet hole on my 3500 LIM and at the same time find a spot for the CTS...

tapped the hole to 1/2" NPT then bushed it to 3/8" NPT then shoved the CTS in there...

Did I just get 2 birds stoned ? Or is that not a great spot to get a temp reading cause of the reduced (stagnant) flow ?

    Opinions please...

    It'll be close enough.

I tapped and plugged that hole in mine, and drilled/tapped the CTS hole where it is on a 3400 LIM. Let me know if you want pictures...

How are you routing your heater core lines?

Core lines installed. Works MINT good heat.

Just water pump outlet to heater core then from the core to the LIM... with the other port on the LIM plugged off.

same valve covers for all gen3's.

does your radiator have an extra 3/4" line input on it? Mine does on the passenger side a little underneath the puke tank line.

            Mars,
We use that port for the temp sender on our conversions and have had no problems.

            Dave,
The setup Mars has will put out more heat and quicker in the winter if you plan to do cold weather driving. I was told that the return line to the radiator is to help get auto transmissions up to temp on cold days. My 4.3 auto S10 is set up with the heater return to the radiator and is very slow to warm up. The engine has to heat itself, the coolant, transmission and trans fluid before the heater will put out max heat. The warm up process is slowed even more by air flowing across the end tank and lower hose when moving.
