  • Late model Gen I timing cover on a Gen III?

Is there any documentation available on what needs to be done to use a late model Gen I timing cover on a 3400? I am looking at putting a 3400 into my Fiero and it would save a lot of hassle if I could use the 88 2.8 timing cover to allow the use of the Fiero accessories.

Is there a reason I would not want to do this?

It bolts on fine. If the Fiero cover is anything like the RWD truck and Camaro covers then you will need to plug a hole in the back side. But it may not be an issue with the Fiero cover.

you'll have to drill 3 of the holes out to a larger size and plug that weird bypass hole if it's like the RWD one. Make sure to use a drill press.

You guys know any threads where it was discussed or pics of what holes need to be modified or is it pretty obvious when you get in there?
