Hey everyone, I need to relocate my oil filter to make room for exhaust in a custom installation. Has anyone done anything like that? I figure I can add an oil cooler at the same time.
Paul,
Transdapt makes relocation kits that will work with the 60V6 engines but the position of the hose outlets can be less than ideal. Canton Racing sells a compact adapter that allows you to point the hoses where you need them but it is more expensive.
I am running the Canton adapter on my 2 trucks and it is the best thing I have added to the vehicles. Both filters are mounted away from the engine and both sit vertical and oil changes are now dead simple and I run a large 1qt filter that is easily double the size of the stock one. I bought a Trans Dapt adapter before the Canton one and they were shitty cast aluminum which needed a lot of touch up work with a die grinder in order for me to ever consider using them.
i've got one of those transdapt adapters but i haven't gotten around to dong anything with it yet. the one thing i don't like about it is the hoses come straight out.
for cleanliness sake and simplicity factor i've been using one of the adapters found on the early 3100's like in the beretta since i bought the car.
