ok so i have been driving around and like my security light is on and i am like ok it is on and my car is still going. this must not be good. i have had it come on and my car not start and i know that the system cuts the power to the fuel pump and then the car does not start and so on. but driving with the light on is it ok? or should i take it in and see what is really going on? or is there anything else that i am be able to do?

Whatever you do, DO NOT DISCONNECT THE BATTERY! The fact that it is running with the light on means that the system saw a signal loss after the initial confirmation and allowed a fail start. The system should continue to allow the vehicle to start while keeping the warning on until the problem is identified and repaired.
If you ain't rock and roll, you must be driving a Honda

probably not the same situation since you probably have PK3, but with the 95 MC with PK2, one of the sense wires broke off of the lock cylinder while driving and i kicked the security light on to indicate it was in fail-enable mode. i've disconnected the battery MANY times since then and it still works fine for me... i would rather err on the side of caution though.

I'd take it to a GM dealer and see if they can figure it out, might cost a little but that's better than being stranded or late for work. lol
