  • fwd 3.1 to carb

    ok just wanted to know me and dad was talking he says you can use camaro heads and a carb intake and carb with hei on a 3100fwd but i told him i was thankin the blocks was diffrent is dad rite could this be done ??

    Yeah, it can be done, but there are sooo many reasons NOT to do it. If you don't change out pistons, you are looking at a CR of around 7.5. Even with a whole lot of porting, iron heads done flow as well as STOCK aluminum heads. Those 2 things right there will drop your power considerably.

      So if it would drop my cr down to 7.5 does it mean the piston on rwd cars have bigger cc heads or are the pistons taller if it's pistons could pistions be used to bump up the cr on a fwd 3100

        Pistons on the iron head motors are usually flat top, and the alum head pistons are dished. The iron heads have a HUGE combustion chamber compared to the aluminum heads. You can see the values in our CR calculator : http://60degreev6.com/content.php/101-CR-Calc

          i don't know what you are planning on doing this in but hood clearance will become an issue on top of a loss of power, fuel mileage and the extra weight gain.
