  • I need help 2.8 problems

I have a miss/studer through all rpm ranges i thought it was ignition but no i replaced cap, rotor, dizzy, plugs and wires anf got nothing. so i went to cange the fuel pump and still nothing. It does have a code 22 which is the TPS sensor but ive had that code since i did the 5.7 TBI upgrade. so if anyone has had this problem before,or might be able to help me out, any and all help is very greatful thanks guys.

Bad injectors, vacuum leaks bad timing or a bad sensor could all cause it.

Are you still using the stock injectors after doing the TBI swap. If you used the larger injectors you will be flooding the engine.

An injector leak or one of the injectors not spraying or not spraying enough will cause this. Shine a light from behind the injectors into the TBI throat and observe the spray. You are looking for any of large drops of fuel or lack of spray. If all is well there, you may have a vacuum leak at the TBI mounting gasket. Use short bursts of carb. cleaner near the gasket to pick up on vacuum leaks.

injectors are good and the timing is at 20 degrees or so which i dont think is right but it wont run at any lower

It should be 10. Did you disconnect the ESC bypass wire before checking timing?

no, but i stopped the stummbling problem, i adjusted my valve lash but now im running 80 psi of oil pressure at idle i know thats not right at all and im really getting discouraged as ive messed with the lash 2 or 3 times know and i cant get the psi to come down and im just getting really pissed off at my truck right now

80 psi could cause the lifter to extend and be pushing the valve off the seat creating your misfire. Are you using some sort of aftermarket high performance oil pump? Are you trying to use too heavy an oil viscosity? A sticking pressure relief valve could do this as well.

Adjusting lash will not have an effect on oil pressure. Normally you would have 60 or 65 PSI at cold idle so if your getting 80 and your sure the gauge is right then something is wrong with the pressure relief.

The wonderful world of s-series. When they are running good its the best thing. Once something goes its not soon after everything goes.
