  • Do you think it's for real?

Apparently a stock 3400 in a Fiero can do 13.56, who knew!
first time at the dragstrip and I went up against a 5.0 and I was just glad to get the better end of it . I ran a 13.56 with a stock 3400.

    that hooked and WENT....

what do 2.8 5 speed cars run in the 1/4?

EDIT: found times for a 88 formula(don't know what trans), and it managed a flat 16. so w/140HP compared to ~175, that's a 25% increase. if the 1/4 mile time decreased by 25%, it would be 12 seconds, so this certainly seems believeable.

man, i like fieros more and more, i just don't wanna work on them.

i did a quick calculation and it would need around 165 HP for 13.5 if the car would be able to do flat 16 with a 2.8.so possible, but what do a fiero weigh?

I think that is a misconception. I have worked on many cars/trucks and even some boats and motorcycles. I find my Fiero very easy to work on. There was actually quite a few ingenius little engineering tricks GM used on those cars. Considering the budget they had for the car I think it is actually really well built.
I use a gantry lift I built from old pallet racks (cheap), I can have the whole driveline out in a couple hours, it just drops out the bottom on a motorcycle lift, exhust, tranny, rear suspension, the whole bit. And for a mid-engine sports car they are really quite practical, good milage (32MPG with the 3400) descent size trunk (for mid-engine) cheap to maintain (Many parts interchange with other GM). I wasn't a Fiero fan until I owned one, now they impress me. I am even more amazed at what kind of power and performance you can get out of them for your money. Mildly modded 3800sc cars are doing 10-11 sec. quarter miles. Many Fieros have been tuned to pull over 1G of cornering grip. I still can't understand why these cars still get such a bad rap.

maybe it's like the LQ1... someone drives one and thinks FUCK YEA, pops the hood and says FUCK NO!!!

but later, after learning all of the quirks and tricks for it, finds it easier to deal with than a 3x00...

3-4 yrs. ago, I talked to a guy that was a Fiero enthusiast. He got his mechanic to work on his, made it sound like a real pain to take out engine. But after seeing your setup, it seems like a nice project to work on. I've always been courious about them. I still remember people riding in them way back in highschool.

I wish it worked like that haha. It takes about 800whp to make a 3000lb f-body go low 9's and only about 400whp to do low 11's/high 10's. Doubling your power doesn't mean you half the ET

oh, i know, just pointing out that there was a healthy increase in power....

i imagine the under the curve difference was quite impressive as well.

supposedly, there are methods to make it fairly easy...

                          A lot more to it.

But according to that site.. 210Hp in a 2650wt car will net a 13.56... Obviously that's no the best way to get a number. MPH is better for a HP relation since the ET can be affected by gearing a lot.

This is my old car. Sold it to my brother in law. it's running obd2 with a 5speed. I wasn't there for the track run but I was there for the dyno pull. It put down 205hp and is completely stock. I wouldn't have believed it if I wasn't there.

Pretty close to the 3400 5 speed Jbodies, they are all at around 195-200 WHP. The difference must be the traction because those very same cars run mid 14's at the same weight.
