  • Tube leaking antifreeze

The tube coming from the LIM to the heater core is leaking at the threaded seal area. I've disassembled and found 1 of 3 o-rings bad. Replaced all o-rings but is this going to not leak or is it hopeless to fix. Any alternatives to replacing this threaded tube?.........Tom

Why yes, now that you mention it. You too can join thousands of right thinking mechanics by getting a threaded heater hose bung at your local auto parts store, then use a piece of HIGH quality fleet grade heater hose and a pair of top grade constant tension clamps for a permanent repair (and the way the factory should have done it! how much assembly time did they save anyway for the aggravation these damned nipples have caused?!?).

I've cobbled those up a few different ways in the past. The quick and easy fix is to get another fitting- costs about $10, and it WILL break next time you mess with it.

Another time I did like the previous guy said, and installed a hose nipple and a short piece of silicon heater hose- worked fine.

But the best fix I've come up with for these is to install a compression fitting. 1/2" pipe thread on one end X 5/8" compression fitting on the other end. Makes for a permanent fix that can be removed and installed multiple times without damage. I've had my Corsica set up that way for years.
