possible to put gen 2 heads on a gen 3 block

hi, i have bought a 2001 chevrolet malibu and it needs new heads. I wanted to know if i was able to replace the old heads with that of a older model. The junk yard has some gen 2 heads. if i do what is the diffrence or what do i need to pay attention to any help would be great thanx for your time

they will bolt to the block but your gen3 lower intake will not work.


you'll also cause a significant loss in power if you use the entire gen2 top end. I would highly advise against doing that. The car would be terrible to drive.

alright so ur saying stick with the gen 3 to gen 3.. thx for the input

Agreed. They made changes to make the gen 3 for a reason. On a side note, welcome to the site!
