Question about coolnt line

Does anyone know what the proper name of this line is???




I have more photos in the garage if you need better views of this location. It is on the Passanger Side in front of the waterpump!

Someone did a Mickey Mose fix and plugged off that line and put a bolt in the Radiator where it appears to mount!

Negative These are all original parts. Car has 84k on it Single owner.Just to the left of the Rad Cap there is a Bolt in a hole there where it appears that this line would connect to!

Is your engine suffering problems with either maintaining proper temperature ...and/or does the Heater blow hot air on the Heat Setting? From the limited look in your image... it appears to be a heater hose of some type...or even a Throttle Body Heating Hose that was removed from only one side of the unit and then capped with a Threaded Bolt and some kind of Silicone Sealer around the bolt head to resist leaks. The problem you might face with it being an actual heater hose is that the feed line coming into it forms a Dead Spot where rust and debris can collect and back up over time...since it is literally being taken out oif "circulation". it follows that any resistance, blockage or re-direction of the flow of the Coolant/ Anti-Freeze can allow the adjacent metal components that are depending upon a regular flowing stream of fluid to cool them down and dissipate heat...to over heat and create an unequal heat distribution in that area of the motor.

I have not had any issues with overheating (after I replaced the Fan motor and Relay) and the cab gets nice and toasty after running for a bit with either the defrogger or Heater running AC still blows Ice cold (Need to see about a conversion on the AC still has the old style stuff in it)

I don't know the Gen 2 V6's all that well but on the Gen 3's, one hose is from the heatercore and the other from a bypass near the thermostat to keep coolant flowing while the thermostat's closed. If this method is the same as the Gen 2's then it looks like it was modified to have more coolant run through the heatercore (this idea is tempting for me in my climate) or to heat the coolant up more quickly by restricting flow through one path instead of two.

Edit: just noticed the hardline going along the valve cover which would be from the heatercore. I have no idea what the third connection is for. Sorry. Maybe the "tree" on the waterpump was salvaged from another car with different coolant flow requirements?

Looks like someone has been doing some extra curricular work. That coolant tree is a return for the heater with the top hose (now plugged) being used more as an air purge back to the radiator. But it looks like someone has added a second line to the coolant tree going to, I guess, your reservoir tank. As for why it was done, I have no idea.
