Superdave might be able to help you out as well, and he may be relatively close to you (Quad Cities, IA - wherever that is). I know he has tuned several 3x00s running on older ECMs.
Actually, I found out that the 3100 will run ok without tuning the 2.8L ECM right away.
"The 3100 should run fairly well on your stock computer. Sure it wont be 'perfect' but the stock tune isn't 'perfect' either. Plenty of people drop 3400's in place of 3.1's and 2.8's and drive them around. No, it isn't ideal and you should get a tune from Ben as soon as you can. But you shouldn't hold off on the engine swap solely because of the tune." - WrathOfSocrus
I still plan on getting a tune chip from Ben, but atleast I don't have to keep from swaping in the 3100 just because of it.

Tuning a chip is usually best done in person, hence the reason I mentioned Dave. You can get a mail-order tune from Ben, or several other people, but they may still not be ideal. It will be better than your stock tune obviously, but there is a good chance it won't be as good as having it done in person. Granted, it will probably cost more to have it done in person, as the guy is actually logging the engine and making adjustments to the chip in the process, so you may end up spending a day fine tuning it all.
After I get the engine put in, I'll email Dave. Hopefully, with the stock tune, the car will be able to make it to a place where he can meet me. (Halfway?)
