  • motor swap, injectors not firing

so i swaped a 3500 in my 99 cavalier z24. i spliced the cav and a 99 grand am harness together to run the engine. external crank trigger also. it wont fire up? it cranks and wen i give it a lil shot of starting fluid (i know its a terrible idea) it will fire? i have fuel pressure at the rail and the injector feed is hot any ideas on were to start?

Passlock system on the 99 GA ECM... its shutting off the fuel system.

Do you have a DHP or a HPTuner to disable it?

Yes I face palmed that one... lol

Does anyone have a way to test and see if the pass lock system is still activating?

I simply went in and disabled it as it is in my 97 ECM and I have never had an issue.

I'm going to look at your bin tonight if I get time and see if I see anymore tables regarding passlock in tiny tuner, DHP may not have them all mapped. If I do I'll fix it on my buck.

I've compared it to mine and the VTD is set for 1 which means VTD disabled... All my other VTD tables are Zero, yours had values... But I'm not sure if that would matter since the main should disable all of those anyways.

Let me know if you want to try this small change or not... or if you need to investigate further to see if its a wiring glitch.

That's what I'm not sure of and I was hoping others would chime in about... I'm not sure of the best way to test a injector lead to see if its firing since they only fire in ms pulses... maybe you would need a scope to see that I'm not sure, or a quick analog meter... and I mean quick.

Do you have the SES system setup? and do you have any codes? or a code puller to check that? I know the SES light is probably on since the car has yet to fire off.

Now with the harness swap did you carry over the BCM, and ignition cylinder? I'm wondering if you have the pass-lock system in there but since it's "disabled" it's throwing a fit being connected.

Brendan? you out there? I was wondering if you could try eliminating your pass-lock by just doing the pass-lock disabled function in DHP and see if your car will start after... IIRC we tried that once and it didn't because everything else was there.

They may fire off in ms pulses, but you can still catch them with the naked eye since they fire in quick succession.

(PS, don't mind my little rant in that thread, I wasn't in a good mood after working on that retarded thing...)

Hook up an LED with a resistor so the LED doesnt fry and see if it lights up when cranking/etc.

try'ed this out today. disabled the vtd and zeroed out the other two tables and still the same results. it would start and then die.

its either gotta be BCM related or there are hidden tables we cant see in DHP
